Jungle had a lotttttt more diversity to it with going down complex items and rare resources, not to mention the "quests" and "boss" monsters they added towards its end. I admit it did have a Jurrassic park feel to it, being that you didn't truly need your whole tribe to survive.
Ice trolls had it to where if one person knew the game very well, knew how to raid, and knew how to hide then they could out class an outnumbered team. But even then it was some rare cases.
Island did good with the classes, giving very good pluses and minus to each one. The only issue is that the "Stores" made it where you could still solo with ease, especially in the mid-versions as the Physical 2nd level Thief class. I'd done several games as one against full teams of 4 on each of the other three teams.
Now there was a game I really enjoyed that came sometime after Troll Tribes, Shamanism. Pulled a lot from Tribes but still keeping it diverse and difficult, as well as complex. An added "Spirit world" to go when character had to sleep made for some interesting conflicts between tribal spirits.
