For the nomadic lifestyle, find a grassland that's in-land, ideally one that has a nearby a broadleaf forest though a conifer forest works too. Grassland has plentiful food, no wild boars or bears to kill you, and can be run on with less stamina drain. In addition, tamable animals such as Mouflon and Auroch spawn on grassland, so when you want to start a ranch, that makes it so much easier. Grassland, Heath, Moor, and Broadleaf forests have apple trees and nuts, so you're never in danger of starving. Rabbits and chickens are also a good source of meat that will be available.

If you can't find a nearby grassland, do your best to find Heath or Moor. Failing that, Broadleaf forest. No matter where you settle down, get Yeomanry as soon as possible and build a roundpole fence around your land. This will prevent wild animals and lesser bandits from harming you -- as without Trespassing, Theft, and Vandalism, a thief cannot get through your roundpole fence as long as it's within your personal claim. Animals also can't spawn on personal claims or see you over your fence, so it's somewhere safe to work and hide. When you can, build a palisade and eventually even a brickwall.

Alot of good help has already been supplied, but the one downfall i find with most new players is that they build their homes next to rivers.
I know it has already been mentioned, but i cant stress this enough.

When you build a camp, do it a good distance away from any rivers, flower fields or even savannahs. Anything that isnt generic forest will attract attention, and until you are fully set up, attention is what you dont want. There is quite a split but it seems to be 50/50 when it comes to people, Half will greet you and give you good advice, and the other half will kill you and take whatever they want.

Also ignore the massive hatred against the russians, there are alot of griefing russians, but there are alot of griefing westerners as well.
Gib me monies or i repot u

If there's one thing I don't approve of, it's the use of macros and bots to play a game. There is no satisfaction or sense of accomplishment in that.

I already like you that much more.

Hello.

Find somewhere with some natural defences, that is ridges, having swamp nearby can be helpful but not a necessity. Look for some bone, and string, and make a fishing rod, hook, etc, dig for worms, walk in swamps for leeches (they attach to your equipment), if you can make a cup from birch bark and drink river water to recover stamina (beware that that will make you hungrier, but you'll catch fish to eat). Increase survival and exploration so you find more/better stuff. Once you find wild wind sown weeds you'll be farming.

But thats the obvious basic stuff.

For building up LP, baskets are considered cluttering and also they're slow. They're the "newbie" option because they're obvious to make. As a result you find fields and fields of baskets near new player starting zones.

Some great easy lp is chipping stones and using some branches to make stone axes. The LP gain per resource use is really good, just drop the axes when you're done. Grab hunting/foraging/fishing as starting skills. Pump up survival (better quality meat from rabbits and such) and exploration (lets you find more forageables). Carpentry is a good skill to get next because you can start building crates for storage instead of baskets. Make sure you temper your construction efforts with forage expeditions for food (you need a chicken/rabbit kill to get a bone saw anyway, and that's what you use to make crates).

I'm just starting myself, but I've done a fair bit of reading and I just built my first cabin. This should get you on your feet and churning out LP to explore other skill options as you go ^_^ Ideally you'll want a log cabin (which has an interior) so that you can build cupboards. One of those stores at least 4 crates worth of goods @_@ it's amazing.

thats kinda cute somehow

edit: what he said is legit btw
another way for early lp are fire: they have a great plus: you don't wate ressources because branches regrow and fires dissapear quickly so the world doesn't look ugly( like when you see a whole map full of buckets or baskets)
