I'm sure none of can even imagine what it was really like.

The damage that has been caused and continues to ensue I'm sure will take many years and billions of yen to repair.

I am so incredibly sorry for the Japanese, and the world.

I saw footage of a couple cars trying to drive away as fast as they could from the waves rushing in. It made me cry.

One nuclear reactor has already melted down and another may anytime now. Japan and West coast Canada and US are fucked.

even though we never know the truth, it is not officially reported as a meltdown according to the news. there was an explosion while engineers were working on some fixes when another earthquake hit there at the time, 4 injured. the government is now trying to check what has happened in details now, not sure if it was the reactor itself or not, yet, either. nothing is confirmed so far. it seems like there is some radio-active leak, which is a big concern, all within 10km radius were told to evacuate further away.

lets hope that the China Syndrome would just stay as an old movie...

*edit*
evacuation warning is expanded to 20km in diameter from the both power plants... starting to sound even worse now.

*edit2*
the official reports say that it wasnt a meltdown, the explosion was not from the reactor itself, but outside the container caused by hydrogen fusion. it is said that the leaked radiation has decreased. i just hope the reports are no BS.
the areas still have continual earthquakes. we have no idea when any of the disasters end.

It's stuff like this that makes me want to go down to the centre of the Earth, find whatever causes tectonic movements and just punch it.

Then again, that'd cause more Earthquakes.

I don't think punching magma is a good idea.

mmm, Why not ... Sometimes (actually almost always) a takes more than one practical example to proof that there is no failsafe against random acts of Chance.

+ Country near active plate faults.
+ Location near big see.
+ On low grond level.
Lets build a Nuclear plant here.

Sometimes you have to take risks to make progress. It was a calculated risk based on what knowledge we have about tectonics/seismology (as well as all the other sciences of relevance). To say it was bound to happen is to say everything is bound to happen :?

Anyway, good luck to anyone living in Japan or who has relatives/friends/etc. there. Hopefully the casualties will be minimal, and the nuclear plants come out standing...
Signed,
that guy who did that thing same as the first II
