Your marksdwarves are no match for my 13-humped adamantine-skinned camels.
I suppose I should take another look at the Bay12's H&H thread.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Anyway, I'm curious to see how a settlement works in the game, is there a map listing? Hopefully one with lots of directions as I can't seem to fetch water without becoming hopelessly lost.

Yep, you can find a map on our forums, we are way out in ring 7 though, so if you plan to come be prepared for all the fox you will encounter on the way. The village itself is pretty safe typically thanks to our hunters.

You don't happen to have a specific guideline of how much weapon skill is required do you?
I'm hanging around 17 melee, sword and shield. I do have ~7000 LP I haven't spent yet.

Heresy. We needed the trees to provide bark, branches and apples, and they got exploited throughly.

The foxes range between 2 ( in the center ) to FIFTY ( in Mordor ). We're about two / three away from Mordor.

No hes right!
We should take this moment to reflect on the error of our ways, and never depend on sneaky apple trees again!
We need Caveapple Mushrooms!
Actually, one thing in all seriousness...
As a victim of this senseless apple-slaughter, I still dont see any reason for dev involvement. This is part of the game, isnt it? This is why we have marksdwarves. And now all the dwarves have an eternal grudge against the Anti-tree Frog. Which will add a lot of spice and autoquests. So I say, let the game play as it is. But PLEASE add that tree planting patch soon!

From what I've read in your thread, you seem to be having problems keeping the regulars fed? How many live there exactly?

I can only guess, but it's probably about a dozen.

We've set the ovens aburning, now though, so we should be alright. We were churning out three full ovens worth of bread within about ten minutes.
