Maybe you should learn your combat skills before encountering a boar...

yeah you can't use knock his teeth out with just 2 lp, might as well put that out there for anyone reading this thread. :)

Here's some advice for killing any animal WITHOUT a sling. You don't need any combat skills either (though armor is highly advised), just Opportunity Knocks, Call Down the Thunder, and a sword.

Stand in the shallow water out of reach of said animal, and build up 22 IPs. Use Opportunity Knocks and walk out of range again. Wait for the cooldown to finish, and repeat, though keep in mind you may get hit at least once, unless you use Evil Eye to remove it's attack. 4 Opportunity Knocks is enough to remove all the defense bar for anything since it removes 30% each hit. Once it has no defense, use Sting to finish it off. Since Sting's damage is affected by the sword q, you can have 1 melee skill and still kill boars and deer in one strike.

Bears on the other hand would require at least two stings to finish them off with a soldier's sword (Unless it's q40+).

Bears run only if they receive a lot (75+ or so) damage from a single strike, if you use low q sling (q20 or so) it will never try to run.

Bear run if they receive a high amount of DPS (Damage per second), so if you don't want them to run, attack slowly.

I can confirm the deaggro/calldown to thunder trick does not work. As far as most of the suggestions in this thread none have worked well for me. Its ok though because most of the time its easy to get animals to come back to you. It seems bears will run when they want to run but will typically come back to you if you wait patiently... I wish they changed it so you could track animals by foot prints though so it was more like real hunting.
