it's best to have the supplies ready for a battering ram BEFORE you need it - cannot stress this enough!

This implies you'll have the str to use it after you die. If you're a hermit in a palisade or brickwall, you (probably) might not.

This also brings me to another point: Never, ever, EVER! deforest inside your wall completely just for this reason. Also: use Ender's so you can avoid these mistakes better.

Open a second client, create a second account, spawn an alt, and both you main and alt begin to bash the wall. For best results have 3 alts and your main for maximum damage. It's cheap, easy, and completely fair to do.

Not at all. Palisades have 25 damage reduction. A newbie with a battering ram is only adding 3 damage to the ram's 20, falling just short of breaking a palisade. With an alt working beside you, they add another 3 damage, breaking the palisades damage reduction by 1 point.

I cannot provide an exact number unfortunately but it would take a god awful amount of time since you're dealing 1 damage per tick and palisades have 2500 health.
