well i was exploring at the time, so i wasnt on a claim and i was near a rather large city, <who now, has my skeleton out the front of their gate. though i doubt it was them because i have done nothing wrong and the only thing i did on their vill claim, was look at a barter stand.

is their a way to be killed without losing your armor?

Well... What kind of armor are you talking about? I got mauled by a rage bear and my plate survived the attack, though I did not.

was only wearing a bear cape, leather vest, and clogs. :D

how does the dying but not losing your armor work then??

i thought that armor had to be broken before you took damage?

some % of animal attacks bypass armor. in addition, if the animal was doing more damage than your total armor that damage would go through. each hit your armor would lose a number of hitpoints equal to the soak value of the armor.

I don't think I've ever seen a new set of armour break before it's owner dies.

armor has this: health number/number2

health = amount of damage the armor can take before being destroyed.
number = amount of damage that will completely disappear into oblivion. this is applied first before number2
number2 = amount of damage the armor itself will absorb and take off it's own health.
also some damage bypasses armor and goes directly to you through unarmed skill(animals have that)

meaning if your armor is 100/100 , has 200 health and you get 140 damage, 30 of it bypassing directly to you then the end result will be:

armor 100/100(this never changes after it's made) 190health and you having lost 30 health yourself. if you had just 5hhp that means you die while your armor remains just fine and dandy.

example numbers, not referring to you directly.
