It sounds like shitty players, or even perhaps a single shitty player.

It happens, people need to be bitchslapped for it.

At least that's how it works in my village.

sounds like you have a shitty village too. condolences

thanks all for your interest.

aye, sorry about that. im not sure either.

To answer these: if you look hard enough, you can find similarities and metaphors just about anywhere. although I believe that having the new system work similarly to socialism was an intentional joke on J&L's part.

Also, am I the only one to notice that the in earlier worlds, the only abusable insects were ants (socialists, obviously). Whereas in W5 we get to terrorize the capitalist spiders, ladybugs and dragonflies?

lol at capitalist insects.
yeah, i guess im just stretching the unnecessary interpretations for fun.

right, but my point here is about the max lp gain. not the minimum.

refer to

and ok, "no matter how long" was an exagerration.
the system does reward those who tries harder to increase the gain. but the outcome is harder to recognize instantly. it will show a significant difference after a while, just a matter of time and efforts,
however, the general public, who does not see the difference to come at once, can easily fail to see it coming, and the motivation doesnt last without patience.
isnt that how productivity in communism countries failed at some point?

as for catching up, Ive been killed a few times and had to start from 0, ive not only managed to keep up, but ive surpassed half my village in only a week. fairness? it seems pretty fair to me. the downside is that people arent really playing to play... most of the lazy people just go equip the curios, make sure the walls are fine, then log out again, and thats kind of sad.

A lot of people are more concerned with their own personal plots than the good of the village. It took us almost a month to put up our brick wall, and we own two clay nodes. Our LS tried to put a chest where people put in curios in exchange for taking one, but we always ended up with an empty chest so we just stopped filling it ourselves. We also try to control who knows the metal recipes so people don't make shitty hammers and anvils when we have a q40 set and I who is soft-capped at over q70 when others have no smithing.

well, if you can surpass others in only a week...errr maybe your villagers arent at their best potential lp gain rate? like not cooperating with others much as Saphireking65 or Sevenless said? or is there a trick that im not aware of? catching up part is rather talking about the difference between the people new and non-effective and the people experienced in well established villages being huge. there are many experienced players who play safe and hardly die at the best possible lp gain rate. i imagine it would be very hard to catch up with such players if you seriously want to compete.

the latter part, i agree its sad. its hard for them to keep motivations up i guess, some of my friends have quit after going thru that period, though they never complained.

Saphireking65 wrote:A lot of people are more concerned with their own personal plots than the good of the village....

yes, i see that. but "people rarely share" in your first reply sounded like denying the existence of cooperating villages (or group of players). i guess it relies greatly on village management conditions.
when i try to think of "general public" or majority, maybe i should look into more on those "not working as intended" villages and take it into consideration.

I dont know if this makes any sense, but I personally feel more rewarded for the work I am doing now, and I am definitely earning more lp/day than I did last world.
My interests have always been about raising q, which last world meant fewer lp because the work wasnt highly loaded, as say hunting would have been. This world my higher q trees, farming produce, charcoal, etc are making a huge difference to the q of many of the manufactured curios. Admittedly the foraged curios cant be affected in this way, but even the humble cone cow, when at q 60, is a slot well filled :D
I find this world repays work, and as a member of a very small, ie two players, village, I can honestly say that hard work, even though i have been murdered three times in the first month of this world, has led to my char being far beyond where I was last world, where my current stats would have been beyond me.
This world takes thought and preparation to bear fruit, that q 20 tree will one day pay off big...whereas last world, go kill a bear or two.. and payback..

But yes... all is capped by clay.... and no one wants to sell any :(

I more mean that combat caps would help alleviate the whole idea of never being able to catch up against someone who started earlier than you. Its not implemented but many people agree as it is one of few things un-capped in the game (Combat, Stealth and Explore are the only ones I'm aware of).

All the crafts are capped by the material so you never need more than 10 farming compared to your crops/trees. You never need more smithing than you have metal quality. Same with all other crafts. So there is a finite number. Though combat is never capped.

I am not a fighter, so I cant start to claim any real knowledge on the subjext of combat caps, but for what its worth, my two cents worth..

NONE of the other skills are capped, you can put as much lp as you want anywhere you want.

The fact that its not worth doing so is a different matter, the fact is, you can have 5000 survival if you so choose, and that is the point, choice.
As soon as you start saying that you cant do this or you cant do that then there is just too much control. Why shouldnt people put their hard earned lp wherever the hell they want it? And after a certain point, it will all even out anyway.

There will always be someone with higher UA than you, and so what? There will always be someone stronger, or with better weapons than you in real life... part of the uniqueness of this world is the risk you take... and the thought that HAS to go into every action you undertake outside the confines of your village.

I LIKE the fact that somewhere out there is someone who could kill me with a flick of his/her finger.. I just dont want to meet them...
We HAVE to keep choice
