Yeah, it sucks, but "real" problems is what makes the game interesting. Just remind yourself that you haven't lost anything you wouldn't have lost anyway come next world reset, and treat this as a plot hook. Do you just let go, or do you make it your life mission to find the six fingered man?

to be honest I lost all the desire to play anymore, I enjoyed exploring the world, but the world is too harsh for me to stick with it.
Good way to weed out the players that are not hardcore enough I suppose

Lakes tend to be griefer hotspots.

ahh, well, should have known that actually. Got my boat smashed once when I afked on a river. Somehow I didn't think I would get sniped in the 30 seconds I was staring at the map.
