I dont have the pics anymore but back before H&H (before it had been made actually) I had built a lean-to with a fire pit in may back yard, my back yard being about 8 acres of spruce marsh between the cities of snohomish and monroe in the state of washington. over time I moved it around, I made it bigger, eventually I evolved it into a shack with spruce boughs for walls and an orange tarp with spruce boughs over it for a roof. eventually I got too ambitious and tried to make it out of wood instead of just boughs, and lost interest. why did I do this you dont ask? two words; UnReal World. good game. most recent version is excellent. anyways, maybe ill do it again and take pics.

as for water sources in that area, all standing water. gotta boil the shit out of all of it.

as for "urban survival." I remember something I heard once about a group of like 5 homeless people dying in Seattle because the owner of the restaurant they were behind kept chasing them away from the heat vents in the alley. gotta take into account the fact that instead of wild animals to deal with, its gonna be people, and you aren't allowed to hunt or kill them. I dont know about you, but scrabbling around in the dumpster for a cheeseburger crust doesn't sound fun to me.

ive actually taken quite a few survival classes, and learned i could never be a true survivalist.
i couldnt even wring a chicken's neck  (the chicken in my hands stared at me with a half closed eye >.<)

still i ventured into a semi-wilderness, experienced a somewhat wilderness life for a couple of weeks without taking a bath, where there are of course no toilets(this is actually the hardest for female), getting lost (to my relief, not alone) in the middle of a desert where you could literally only see a horizon, spending a night with fear, eating whatever was available...
when i came back to the civilization, i decided that i LOVE my own urban life, mimicing semi-urban-survival.

Warm beds are a huge issue for homeless (and the 'urban survival' scenario) anywhere that it drops below freezing for more than an hour or two at night. This last winter was particularly harsh in most of North America.

Also, I think I'd rather eat a rat, flying or running, no matter where it came from.

Damn animals, especially stupid ones for being so cute. I'd have a tougher time deciding whether or not I need to kill a dog for survival than a human.

I think I'd be fine. I never actually held the knife at slaughter season, but I held down many a pig as it's throat got slit and then caught the blood in a bowl for blood sausage. I wouldn't call it an enjoyable experience, but it's not all that bad either.
