I smell an obsession with WoW coming from blizzard. I played diablo becuase I could have and epic adventure to fight the devil by myself and not have to share the treasure. why the fuck would I want to go online and share the treasure with other little fuckers who are just playing to grind up and get the best of everything? hate that shit.

Oh... maan.. why?
I knew that D3 has nothing common with D2, but why this? Why not to leave real-money stuff to those fine korean mmos like RFonline, Aion and such? damn...

Still have to check it out and if i dont like it... Well, I'll go play Torchlight then.
(it was developed by the developers of D2, that have left Blizzard.)

There's a lot of misconceptions in this thread.

They didn't say they want to remove single player.. ( but they made it that way you have to stay online to play for them to prevent exploited characters leaking to online play.. which is okay for me..)
and they say hardcore setting (permadeath) won't have real-money auctions on it so.. .)

Oh, thats good, about the hc not having real-money auctions. HC was more fun in d2 anyway ;)

How retarded can you be lol? The reason it requires you to stay online to play single player is because they are trying and most certainly failing to prevent piracy. Wtf does exploited characters leaking to online play even mean? I mean reaaaaly?

And whooopy doo hardcore won't have auctions but that's ok since only a tiny minority play that anyway. Fucking jewzzard. Another game I won't bother playing. The faggot industry keeps shooting nails in the coffin of gaming with the nail minigun (only 5$ for double damage minigun buy today!)

Doesnt even work. plenty of sc2 hacks around...

In the early days of d2 they had some sort of bug in their code which meant open battle.net characters could occasionally join closed battle.net games, meaning that hacked items made their way onto the closed servers (see "bugbelt", "bug tal", etc). I think thats what they mean, specifically ;)

Also, dont worry, they will probably fuck up the auctioning system so its unusable anyway :D

Oh they'll make it work even if nothing else will. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

And what is worse is that faggots will accept this shit and in the mind of the modern "gamer" spending money for power is ok and even encouraged. No more playing for the challenge of it for being better than your brother or cousin or that kid from across the street that you hate oh so much it will all be of who has the bigger bank account. The era of games made by gamers for gamers died 10 years ago now we're in the era of greedy fucks exploiting fucking retards who think spending money makes them good at anything.

yeah, i was so disappointed with how people just accepted SC2's flaws when that came out. Seems like D3 is prob going to be the same.

On the other hand, D2 was big enough that there were people who enjoyed playing "challenge" builds and stuff. I guess they will carry on to D3 (since Torchlight was diabolical, imo - no depth to the game mechanics at all), so I don't know, I might still buy D3, just to play with a small subsection of the community.

@Avu, I kind of agree with you on many points (that of me being a retard too) but.. you are modern gamer too. Do you pay for power?
Why complain over things that just are to be sold to masses.. just have your fun and play something different .)

there are still new games following old principles.. they just aren't being advertised nearly as much..
Path of Exile (like old diablo.. just a lot more grimdark.. yay!)
or from different genre Bloodline Champions if you like pvp.. (you can't buy anything that helps u in the game which is kind of nice..)
if you know what you're looking for you can find it .)

If you just try looking a little further you can find many pretty things in the world ;P (and that applies to games too!)
