Bears. Always a hardcore moment when bears and noobs are involved

It was not because a bear was involved that was intense but because I was combating it with a skill level significantly lower than optimal. In honesty, I had doubt that the alt would survive the encounter but I still fought as my chances to survive is still higher than 0%.

The noob i was talking about was me, and the bear in question was the honey-hunting, picnic basket stealing bastard that killed my first character

Higher than 0% is more than i can say about myself in that encounter. He just ran out of nowhere and mauled me instantly lol

BTW notabane that enders client solves those problems but huntfail will at bear in the middle of deep land gives you 0,05% chance to survive. That assumes server can crash at any time...

Actually the avatar I have is a character who a part of a series of doujin Danmaku shooting games (Bullet Hell or Bullet Curtain) called Touhou Project. Though originally a game, it has proliferated to other medias such as anime, manga, cross-overs, and novels. The character I have in question is named Patchouli Knowledge whom is a very powerful magician but due to her poor health and asthma she's often unable to recite her spells.

Also, how I end up getting attacked by a bear without noticing while deep in the lands is because I was using Spawn Wilderness with an exploration alt. Spawning next to a bear in the deep lands is a very low chance but seemingly a chance that I end up landing on.

All the mention of bears and (once) noobs makes me remember when a bear was stalking around our palisade. My brother was returning from scavenging while I was watching the bear and I was unaware of my brother's location. Suddenly the bear stalks off away from the palisade and I message this to my brother, only to notice where on the minimap my brother's icon was. He had been frantically trying to set down the boat he was carrying when the bear caught him. It beat him down but didn't kill him, although it chose to spend five minutes sitting on him. My brother now refers to any bear he sees as 'Dick the Bear'.

My most hardcore moment in H&H was deciding between Nature or Industry.

I was essentially forced to fight a bear with a combat alt with just 81 unarmed combat in an area with no buildings or water. The hardest part is probably the initial part where it it first gain IP enough to use its bite attack. Fortunately it used its claw attack first which allowed me to not lose my defense in one attack. Using Slide to regain defense and Dash to gain IP and recover defense. I somehow made it to 6 IP which allowed me to use flex so I can (barely) sustain myself after an attack especially a bite attack. This is where I used Seize the Day to try to gain slowly gain advantage over the bear which slowly but progressively became easier.

Now this is the tricky part. I had to constantly use some Opportunity Knocks and punch each time while keeping track of the amount of damage I have dealt. After a long fight duration I was able to get it down to the point where it had around 250+ HP left where 200 is the estimated point where it goes into Rage. I had to store 44 IP so I can 4 opportunity knocks, 3 Knock his Teeth Out, and enough IP to sustain flex. I made my move: switch my stance to Meditation and allow my knocks to occur much faster, set my move to flex,then threw in my four Opportunity Knocks, and attacked. It threw the bear into Rage in which I set my stance to Bloodlust when he uses it and meditation when he is full attack meter. Inevitably, my defense dropped too fast and I simply switch to Blood Lust to try to quick fuel my Knock his Teeth out. 3 of them wasn't enough so I had to make do with Bloodlust-fueled punches. The alt barely survived with 41 HP left.

This isn't the most impressive story out there but it is someone that doesn't have as much PvE experience as PvP.

Holy shit, are you serious? That is a ridiculously intense fight and I can't believe you pulled it off with only 81 UAC.

It wasn't just tactics alone. The alt was decently equipped to where the enraged bear would not fully overload the total armor class though the armor was damaged after the battle. What also saved me was luck that the bear did not initiate with a bite move which would have put me in a corner. Had it used bite first, the alt may not have survived.
