Afaik the NPC idea came from TeckXKnight here:

I really can't remember that there was a connection made with having Towers and using NPCs - but it's been a time ago as PainHertz said...so i may be wrong

The tower guards won't be regular NPCs, as in characters that appear on the screen, but "implicit NPCs" that we can't see or interact with but know must be there for things to work. An existing example are the invisible guys who mind the vending stalls.

The guard towers would essentially be sentry guns that shoot at any enemy in range, but since there are no robo-gun technology in h&h, we know it must be NPC's up there shooting, even if we can never see them. :-)

14:17 loftar > The basic thought is that players would be able to build semi-automatic defense towers that would attack people leaving scents in the village (or something like that).
14:18 loftar > And expanding the library of offensive weapons a bit as well.

Nope, that's direct from Loftar, part of the siege system overhaul. Granted from 3 months ago and i think he was just tossing around ideas....

An automatic tower is an npc, also if isn't a chara. Is an Automated Thing that Work while you're offline, so is like an npc.

I'm not against this, but i don't see the point on say if is an npc or not. Maibe isn't a chara, but it work like an npc so ther's no difference.

i know what you mean, Flame, but saying "towers with NPC" as "direct from Loftar" is bs, giving others a wrong idea.
