Re: Bare-naked survival

Every now and again when I'm not at my own computer, I start a new bare-naked (clothes? who needs em!) default client toon and randomly spawn in the wilderness. I really enjoy the vigor of early gameplay survival, the way many of us knew it.

From the get-go, I leech up my shoeless feet, and immediately start my hunt - not for boar, bear, fox, or rabbits... but instead I hunt for a bucket, boat, fishing rod, chicken, and something to drink from. I make my toon interact with everything. At this baby blue-eyes stage, I have no choice but to steal from those who do not have Yeomanry.. so I'm more or less a wandering hermit. Once I have completed my hunt (sometimes it takes 10 mins, other times an hour or longer), I begin my search for good resources or conversation. It can be very hard to find either one of those things, so these new chars often end up 6 feet under.

Anyways, my point to you sir:

As was stated before.. get yourself a boat, some leeches from a swamp, and fish the night away. Eventually, you'll notice that some food will give you certain fep bonuses -say for example, INT- which in turn, you will need to study curios and accumulate Learning Points to purchase skills such as Yeomanry, or Rage, Fishing, Hunting, Stone Working, etc.. or STR which will help you mine more quickly, or even battle more proficiently. There's a certain point after you've spent some time gathering resources, building a wall, shelter, and taming a few animals in which hunger is no longer your biggest concern. Don't forget that you'll need to diversify your diet (if you haven't already) so you can even out your attributes. it's a good idea to start that early.

Actually, this might be more fitting for the HOW TO section.

as a newb especially at this stage int he game, i just wander till exploring everything for the basic lp, i generally buy the very basics, hunting, fishing etc in order to eat. if u wander long enough theres always random boats along the lakes and rivers.
i tend to pick up any rabbits and chickens i find, and then get fishing going, it is the easiest way to survive as a newb. and u can fish from the shoreline if theres jumping fish, you do not need a boat to do it.

i always icnrease my expo before anything else, because the ability to see curios and other items like blueberries are improtant at that stage. as a newb a little ua to fight a boar wont help u very much when u dont have any armour on anyway. also keep the cone cows and chariots cosntantly in inventory, ur expo doesnt need to be high to see other curios. on my alt new with expo 9 and perc 12 i could see flotsams.

for seeds, jsut go to random abandoned farms, which are everywhere now, and jsut harvest some seeds from them
