Maybe I'm just a bit of a softy, coming from the Bay12 forums, where everyone jokes about the murder of innocent NPCs rather than idiot newbies. But yeah, JordanColes speaks the truth.

That's what you get for playing a free game.

So you are saying in paid games the community is better? lol

Btw I have never been a forum person, never been active in any community. I decided to start posting here because there is a core of players that outshine every other community I have observed so far even when you have to see past a few rough words that are thrown at you every once in a while.

I wasn't talking to you so much as to the "new players who like to complain"-population in general.

This game creates the finest concept of Social Darwinism I have ever seen. However, noobs are slaughtered in the process. You either hide, run, or die. Or all three.

It's just the aggressiveness shouts louder... :P

Here are so many friendly and helpfull ppl too and even some who sound aggressive sometimes show their hearth at some other times...

I remember those flamewars back in the mid 1990ties in some Newsgroups - that! was aggressive to the bone - in every "aggressive" post here i read the lulz acting in the background...

i've never had an issue as a newb on this forum, actually most are pretty friendly. but i dont come and document every time ive been killed as a newb or had my stuff trashed or stolen, except 1 time when it was a major thing. and i didnt get the 'you're a newb, protect your village' or whatever crap, even though it was a stupid mistake. we actually had a lot of help and was suprised by how many people came to track scents, how many pms i received of other nearby villages offering food, and help and man power to help us secure our village again.

i think its the way some posts are worded which sound stupid, some ask for help but dont know what their location is for instance. or have no security measures to begin with, or are 2 day old newbs who got killed for just being newbs. not everything requires a community response, and msot will be laughed off.

The biggest issue is often that players expect the community to perform tasks and actions, often asking for hours if not days of their time with lots of risk and attention, for free. These demands and expectations are grating, especially when the method of asking for help is in the form of "Do it or I'll quit!" which so many posts are. It's hard to feel sympathetic to a plight when your main qualm is fairly minor and you're trying to make it sound like the world is ending.

More often than not, if a poster is willing to calm down and not make excessive demands but rather asks for help, then the forum is actually quite helpful or at the very least supportive.

tl;dr Bitchfits result in bad ends, thoughtful posts result in good ends.

(A reply to the OP)

It's because they don't read guides. I didn't read any either, originally. Because I didn't, I died to ants (several times) rather than PVPers.
For some of the newbs out there reading this, Read some of these links.

I happen to think this is also helpful for semi-noobs or even Vets that didn't read it starting out. So read, read away!

we're not fucking aggressive! shut up you retard!

but seriously, i agree, a lot of the forums seem aggressive, but this i believe, as has been said, is simply because the aggressive people are heard over the general rabble of the inn

Simply, i suppose that when you have a forum that unite the whole world, you can't expect to see the Good side of the world in a game of free pvp.

The worst forum i've ever seen in my life. A good train for when i'll have to leave my country.
