Ninijutsu wrote:Haven and Hearth is a great game, but let's be honest here, you have to play hardcore to get anywhere in it.

It takes a few months of playing several hours a day to get good enough stats to raid a competent village, only to die and have to do it over again.

I think the game would be significantly better if there was a cap for skills, something like 100 (or maybe 50). The game would be less oriented on scripting bots and playing 24-7 to get the best stats and more oriented towards a game that rewards you more for playing and having skill. Right now it's all about not getting murdered or griefed until you have like 20 million LP to get HALF DECENT combat stats. The longer you play, the better you are than everyone else. That's just not how a proper game should work IMO.

I'm not complaining, I will still play the game, but do you not honestly think a cap would be better than endless grinding?

What are your opinions on the grind-oriented manner of Haven and Hearth?

Removing the grind was a blessing. Also your pointing out the reasons why the LP system is better than W3+4. Your just looking at it all wrong :).
@ your 4 days to get 100k LP comment
.... I hope your talking about in w5 now w6... if so, no comment... no comment at all....
I knew a guy who had gotten 300k+ LP a day in w5(based on your int obviously). All that stupid grinding just to get some decent LP, you get that in less than 24-48 hrs(most of them).

Then please, tell me what I'm doing wrong. I constantly put in ant queens, ant soldiers, thorny thistles, bark boats, cow cones, emerald dragonflies, and royal toadstools, with the occasional ant empress or peculiar flotsam.

What's your LA(Learning ability)? Your getting there. Read the wiki (ringofbrodgar.com . Search curiosity. There's a chart). Get a score of at least 700 expl*perc to forage some nice curios.Crafting curio's works as well.

My learning ability is 360% (full change and peaceful). I got my last slide of change just this afternoon.

I've read the curio chart several times. 700 exp*per is a bit high for me right now, as I am focusing on combat stats right now. I'm the village "soldier", per say. I currently have around 400 exp*per

As far as crafting curios, I make a seer's bones whenever we bring in a dead bear.

So you think you understand combat because you sat on your thumbs and thought about it for a while?

Also, for curios: enthroned toads, straw dolls, seers' bones, seers' bowls, bronze steeds, edelweiss, tin soldiers, porcelain dolls, etc. Flotsam, queens and empresses are good but your list pretty much shows you are at noob level.

You don't seem very stupid. I think you'll get the hang of it.

"gaming since 1981"

Text based games aren't applicable to this discussion, older guy?

Not sure where this kind of mentality can even come from these days, but that is how every fucking game works.
