I know that feeling well Hazzor, as I am sure most of the long players here do. Iv even managed to get my brother and his wife into this game - when we had that day of the server being down they didn't know what to do with themselves lol.

Most new players don't get enough time in the game to get completely hooked - looking after them at the start ensures we have the best chance at keeping them coming back

A noob for me too!
I would gladly use a cook apprentice, so i would not had to do all this work myself!
Teaching a noob the ways of cooking, baking and frying.. use all the cooking tools and the recipes.. ah-ha!
Theres a new challenge, train a noob to be a cook! :D
I am born with the cooking in my blood

I came across a newbie whilst exploring a few days ago. From what they told me, they had just started playing, completely new to the world. For some odd reason I decided to help them. Their meager camp consisted of a leanto and a spruce bed so the first thing I did was showed them how the bed goes into the leanto. While I had them impressed at the feat I decided to take things a step further and asked if they wanted a log cabin. They agreed almost ecstatically so I gave them the task of collecting logs while I explored the area to make sure it was suitable to build there.

During my short survey I found some abandoned tools and crops that would help speed up the process of building a proper homestead along with an old boat. They were pretty surprised when I came ashore in that beat-up red thing with a cargo full of goodies just as surprised as I was when I seen how many logs they had collected. I set to work on laying the foundation for a log cabin all the while explaining the tips and tricks that would make their stay in the world a bit easier.

In a short while the house was built, they had a small garden growing, and I even made them some indoor furniture. They were extremely grateful for the help and I assured them that I would be around to answer any questions they might have. With a goodbye I left the little newbie to their own devices and the world seemed a little bit brighter that day.

While you don't have to take someone completely under your wing, showing them some kindness and what can be accomplished can make a world of difference.

Noobs are great little friends to have. Showing them the game opposed to killing them is very beneficial to both sides. You actually get some fun (and easy trading) out of the noobs, while they have a friend to protect them and a trade partner for simple goods unobtainable by a new player.

Nice post, Hazzor.

running's pointless against a prepared opponent, unless you have buckets of water and lot's of patients

Is there such thing as an intelligent noob? If not, will you breed some for me? We can make a trade....
