what democracy lets you do is to make a compromise.
you can never choose someone you all like. someone always dislike the elected.

Yeah, that's why i used we in the collective sense and not the individual sense.
I figured that what you are saying, kinda goes without saying.

If Obama was on fire I wouldn't piss on him to put him out.

You seem to be confused into thinking that our "leaders" give a shit what we think or feel, they don't.

So we should somehow change human nature? Greed isn't cultural, it's a product of evolution and is present in every human being.

The government IS the problem. This is not a democracy, it is a republic that requires hundreds of thousands of dollars to run for any office where bribery is not only legal, it is the norm and required to pay election costs.

There are 4 fatal flaws with the US government:

1) Political parties: It's not republicans vs democrats, political issues are not that black and white.
2) Lobbyists who commit bribery: Who cares what the people want if I can make a fortune pleasing corporations?
3) The costs of running for political office: It costs hundreds of thousands for congressmen and nearly a billion dollars for most presidential candidates. This not only forces politicians to get their money back via lobbyists, it creates an environment where all politicians are apart of the upper class.
4) People simply aren't educated: There's no source for unbiased news to give to the common citizen. Most people choose a side and vote for whoever labels him or herself a democrat or republican.

Curiously, these three problems are caused by the Democracy which you so extol, and the fourth wouldn't be a problem without it.

They just say what the people want to hear and do what the corporations pay them to do.

Obama = War in Iraq/Afghanistan will end, + Votes = WIN!
Corporations = War will not end *Pays Obama x amount of money* = Corporations digging out more oil/minerals
