Did you even read the rules? Like, at all? No really, I'm super srs. Go read them.

Edit: I realize you never will so here you go.

Any audi without a doubt, i love them.
Didn't realise u live in England - me too.
I passed mine first time despite the fact that i lost my temper with two kids riding their bikes out in front of my car on a roundabout and shouted out the window "come back and i'll do it properly" - meaning run them over, lol. I was forced to do emergency stop and examiner was impressed, still thought i'd failed all the way round tho and was amazed he passed me.
Happy driving!

There were these pack of chavs that were trying to get me to fail by overtaking me and then braking hard as they turned away and repeating this like 3 times until my instructor told me to stop the car and let them pass, I think its a bad idea for examiners to wear the visibility coat as then everyone knows your on an exam. But thankfully everything else went well :) same here, I thought I failed and I had that feeling in my stomach plus with a slight adrenaline shot as he was about to tell me whether I failed or passed but when he said "Congratulations, you passed" I was over the moon! Also yeah, I live in York.

But yeah the Audi is pretty awesome, my uncle has one its smooth, its quite, the handling is superb and it is fairly fuel efficient. However I like the design of the BMW and I am planning on going to a BMW garage near mine to get a test drive in the car and if it is the same as the Audi or better in those fields I'll go for the BMW but if not the Audi it is.

You might have been trying to be funny, but I think the OP should take this suggestion seriously.

I don't know what the statistics are in the UK, but in the US, something like 80-90% of all new drivers get in a wreck in their first year. I'm not necessarily advocating a Yugo as they are neither safe nor all that reliable, but OP should keep this in mind. I've always liked VWs for that reason. A slightly older one that runs good and has a good safety rating can be found for a lot less. Save your money as cars are never anything but a money pit. Once you have a year to year and a half of experience under you (basically, when you feel confident you're not going to wreck it), get something nicer like an Audi or BMW. It sucks wrecking a car that was just purchased and having to go through the hassle of finding a replacement. When you've paid out good money, it sucks even more.

Also: new drivers don't need anything with "performance" in it. Learn to drive safely, then learn to drive like you have a pair (just do it somewhere safe). Is there even an Audi or BMW that isn't designed with a sports driver in mind, even on the "cheap" family models?

I believe the mods have clearly stated that the bolded part is the most important part of that phrase. If you got an issue with a thread, the rules also state that you should REPORT the post, don't reply to it. I believe I have read that useful and/or entertaining threads will be allowed.

I suppose your right MagicMan, my father just said that to me as well. Not to get anything with performance or flashy when you start off but something to get additional experience in and something that is safe and then get something nice.

I am thinking of getting an Astra like this one, its not too quick nor is it too expensive as you can pick one up for around £3,000 ($5,000). Its safe, not too fast, fuel efficient and a lot of new drivers where I live tend to buy a car like this -

Or do you have any specific VW's that you may recommend?
