for starters, this is Critiques and ideas, rather than saying "Y U NO COAL" you should have said why you think there should be coal, i would agree with that idea quite frankly, it's a pain to have to get wood (hur hur) for charcoal when you could passively gather it while mining, but then there's the issue of Quality, coal would be more random and have a less smooth Quality gradient unlike trees which can be regulated and increased over time.
