Re: About art? (Question for devs, mainly)

I've thought about it and posted as part of another thread, but I also feel that npc quests are an idea that I'm not a fan of...
Certainly player made quests are a good idea (can be done with parchments already), but I don't know about having some guy at the inn who will always give you 2 steel coins for killing 100 rabbits... That's a little plain and "regular MMO-ish"

Also, I want the quests to tie in nicely with the expanding, random generated and sand box feel of the game, without becoming repetitive. Not trivial, but I think it can be done. :)

So, the thread has been derailed.

Time to change the topic title. =)

Some old mock-ups I did about a year ago.

Might give some hints about the general direction in which this will be going.

I rather like the ideas here, but what would actually trigger such events/quests? I quite like it as a random possibility, the sort of thing that could bring good fortune to whoever's lucky enough to encounter it, but could also bring disaster or unwanted attention.

OK, forget what I was saying about NPC quests being bad. I should have trusted you guys; you've made an awesome game so far, why would you decide to stop now?

Those look sweet! It seems like you've been struck by a muse that is allowing for a similar style to my favorite games (Avernum and Geneforge) with even more awesomeness, plus excellent art and brilliant interactions with other players. That kind of quality and humor is hilarious and hard to come by, and I appreciate it.
