But I love M&B and the thing I especially like is that it encourages mods, so if you ever conquer all of Calidaria or want to change something you can with the vast variety of mods.

I plan on downloading the 1257 AD mod due to the map being larger and there being many more factions, anyone played it or tried the mod? Is it any good? I don't really plan on getting too much involved in Politics this game, I'd just prefer to loot, raid and plunder villages, make a vast fortune, buy a few businesses, trade a little, get the best armor and have every Noble in the game say "That is a name that strikes fear into the hearts of men!" :3

Or should I download Europe 1200? Or 1257 AD? Help?

I've played Mount & Blade for years and my favourite single player mod is Brytenwalda. It even has a (kinda buggy) co-op mode.

they've actually only made 2 stand alone games, everything else is expansions and DLC.

My only upset is that The Last Days mod will not work with Warband.

I play Mount and Blade, wonderful game. 8-)

I usually end up making my own empire rather than being someone's puppet.

I've played the whole game without mods.
It was long as hell.
1. Form your own kingdom with followers
2. Took over kingdom of Nords
3. Took over kingdom of Swadia
4. Assembled so politics for Rhodoks to attack on Khergits
5. Took over kingdom of Vaegirs
6. Politics, setting traitors on exile and giving fiefs to loyal one's
7. Taking over Sultanate of Sarranids
8. Took over Khergits Khanate
9. Luring all the possible lords on my side ( except exiled one's)
10. Taking Over Rhodoks!
11. Announcing myself to have a single sole claim to an old Calradian throne as next emperor of Calradia
12. Enjoying..
I am born with the cooking in my blood

The western mod is tremendous fun. I can't recall its name at the moment.
