I got robbed for about 3 times, got killed 2 times.
And I am still playing, losing is fun. Realise reasons of failures, learn to play or do not play. This game isn't casual.

All things the OP says are actually what i think makes the game great and intresting, since you have to figure out who you can trust and who not. I played in w3, and never died. Ended up with a great alliance and a kickass town.
Oh and if some village people mess up and grief and the leader can't controll their people, then that leader sucks. I always enforced my rules in my village. Death sentence was one of the more harsh penalties depending on the crime.

but then again this game needs abit of luck aswell, and you should truly think about where the hell you plan to build your home.

Pretty much, permadeath and this community ruins it

Perma death is what drew me to this game in the first place. That and PvP.

Permadeath makes you think before you do things. It also gives you incentive to build (particularly brickwalls).

Permadeath makes you use alts. Alts kinda bend the rules of permadeath in that you don't lose all of your stuff that you worked for unless your village was raided (and if you don't Alt Vault). Alts make you use even more of your time even if it's log in/log out. Alt Vaulting is the only way your character can retain some of their more important items thru the death of their main alt. The longer you play this game the more knowledge you're going to have. I know knowledge is power in this game, but this community and ingame people ruin it. Mostly veteran players and douchebags stick around playing this game.

To me it all comes back around to an investment of time, why should I invest time into a game where every person is going to steal from you, kill you, kill your animals, lie to you, rape your alts and animals, etc... on sight. A game where the creators don't care to fix glitches and or supply their fanbase with a better server or more servers, even tho people have offered them money. Development supposedly has been halted. etc etc etc
I got robbed for about 3 times, got killed 2 times.
And I am still playing, losing is fun. Realise reasons of failures, learn to play or do not play. This game isn't casual.

I've learned how to play, I have died more than you and have been robbed/raided more than you also(the 2nd day I played this game 7 raiders wearing ranger clothes came thru my camp). I've read the guides, wiki, and the forum. I've learned that not using Ender's Client is a great way to die. To use alts and keep your main character behind a palisade. Alt Vault your important stuff. Assume everyone in this game is going to try and steal from you, kill you, kill your animals, lie to you, rape your alts and animals, etc... on sight just because this is fun to them. I've come to realize that some griefers won't let up and will do w/e they can to make you mad (I'm now awaiting a 16yo 4chan douchebag to post a U MAD pic). I've never stolen items from other characters in this game, griefed people, etc... I've helped out novice players that I've met, too bad they decided to quit playing. I've tried to keep novice players from quitting, by offering my help and curios to them. Phaen is the only more experienced player than me that didn't try to do something to me on sight or shortly after meeting me. Probably the only reason Phaen didn't decide to was because I could post a negative comment about her trading thread.

From reading the forum I know most of you guys like to keep your community small. You have to realize this hurts the game's future also. Keeping the community small keeps the demand for better services small (or maybe loftar doesn't give a shit even if the game becomes bigger, but he would have to do something).

Anyway, I've thought about raiding/griefing other players that stole/griefed me, but I decided that I shouldn't become like those people. Also it would be giving those people more of a reason to do things to me.

To the griefer that keeps bugging me and my friends, gj at retaining the size of this community. I could pay pearls/flotsams to have you killed, I could also start a new account on the forum and piss everyone off and give cords to your area, but I'm not like that. Good thing for you I guess, lol.

Yes but the division of skills also encourages alts. The FEP system encourages alts. Just because something encourages alt use doesn't mean its all bad.

Also, I think you are far too paranoid in this game. Trust me, not everyone is a backstabbing douchebag in this game. The ratio is about what you would expect IRL. You haven't been robbed/killed/raided more than I have, and I can assure you that everyone is not a backstabbing douchebag.

If the devs interfered with in-game drama and permadeath, that would ruin this game. That's what this game is all about. Maybe not your cup of tea? Too bad. But stick around the forums at least, because again, I really like that Ernest P. Worrell avatar hehe

Assume the community you are left with when 98% of the good players quit will be utter shit.

Phaen seems like a good person in the game and on the forum. It was fun traveling 3 supergrids to trade with her. Not that I had much of anything to trade! lol

Thanks, you and Phaen seem nice. I'm on the fence about playing, I might play for fun to help some noobs in my area. They've been playing without a palisade :( besides that, I still haven't caught some of the different types of fish. I've yet to mine also.
