This question has been asked many times and it always has the same answer.

The misconception of the OP probably starts at assuming that this has been made with the goal to reach as big of an audience as possible.

I am not entirely sure why they released it at all. To share it with the world, for fame...both probably not. My guess would be that the world felt a bit boring with just Loftar, Jorb and Kaka in it.

I won't act angry or shake my fist against Loftar or Jorb! Got much too much respect for them.

We should think about the HnH game engine / server code being prolly some kinda blueprint for Salem too. So i don't think asking about releasing it as open source makes sense...

It's just the good old HnH immanent thingie how we should act now: with patience ...
