He was crushed under the weight of his tragic upbringing, his mother once sold him for alcohol i believe, he went in and out of various institutions and before he even turned 18 was considered 'dangerous' after psychiatric assessments.
His life is both tragic and chilling, like most serial killers.
As we are all products of our environments and experiences i find it scary - different circumstances and that could be you or I.

well said Amada44 - we shouldn't forget the time he was growing up and being teen/ young adult - so many different inputs...nowadays the possible inputs seem to be really straight even when there are reputative more with all that digital media...

I remember when i was a preteen i read the news about the murdering of Sharon Tate - liked her a lot back then so there was not much sympathy with Charlie and his Gang...

in the late 1980ties / young 90ties there was a wave of interest in ppl like Charlie, Ed Gain and the like...funny mostly coming from straight normal male "grungeaffected" guys ...
