Musical Discussion/Musical Taste Thread

My musical taste consists of industrial metal (Cubanate, 16Volt, Jesus and the Gurus, Flesh Field), but also TBM (Agonoize, Nachtmahr, Grendel, Reaper, noisuf-X, Combichrist), mainly non-thrashy flavors of metal (The Sins of Thy Beloved, The Birthday Massacre, Satyrian, Masterplan). Also darkwave and dark electro like Angelspit, And One, Chiasm, Die Form, Zombie Girl, Collide. Not to forget good-ole Goth bands like The Sisters of Mercy, Alien Sex Fiend, Switchblade Symphony, Christian Death. Ah, and uncategorizable ones like Samsas Traum which simply don't fit into either category.

I listen to Trash/Death Metal. The harder the better. The louder the better.

Samsas Traum is the best... and i like Emilie Autumn too. In some calm moments i heard Dark Rock too.

Someone in IRC posted Bright Eyes about a week ago. I still can't stop listening to Cassadega, holy crap.

That, Third Eye Blind, Goo Goo Dolls, Citizen Cope, Gorillaz, Jack's Mannequin, and some other crap.

I know it's not completely in topic with the thread, but anyone who listen to metal that doesn't make your ears bleed got any suggestions? Used to listen to metal, I like metal, I just can't take my ears getting any worse.

Most stuff I listen to would have the label "indie" somewhere in its description I guess. Mostly Indie-Pop/Rock, some electronic music (like the stuff that trav mentioned), coming back to metal every now and then (mostly when I am drunk in front of my computer). Sometimes Jazz or classical music to accompany my morning coffee. But it really changes every week with new stuff I discover and get addicted to (musicwise).

Some of my alltime favourite bands maybe: Archive, The Dears, The Divine Comedy, Arcade Fire (!!!), Final Fantasy (no, not the game soundtracks, although those are amazing too), The Decemberists, Moloko/Roisin Murphy, Dresden Dolls, Gorillaz/Damon Albarns other projects and now that I see it in the post above Bright Eyes/Connor Oberst too....well I could go on and on.

€dit: Alltime favourites might not be quite right, because those were all more or less modern bands. Will just mention The Doors here for being the most influencial and exceptional band I ever heard, but won't go deeper into all the other old stuff that affected me.
