In the actual situation, just making a claim will make your space 99% safe. (nothing in 100% safe on this game still). Just to help you, I've made a claim 3 weeks ago, without any wall (not even a fence), and then I logged back now and anything was stolen. So I suggest you rushing for yeomanry, making a stake claim, and then do whatever you want.

Well, it took about 2 hours of walking around till i found a half decent marker to go by, and found my location on the world map. Ya, I already got Yeomancy and got a claim, just wandering around making cupboards/crates to stockpile a bunch of seeds etc. then going on a long journey till i find a village. Then I'll go find a good spot somewhere around it and de-claim my original spot and move everything to a new claim near a village to start up a trade route. But along the way, I'll probably end up planting some trees or random vegetables for the folks just wandering through who are having a rough time...kinda like the Johnny Appleseed story lol. It is actually cool that the world on here pretty much came to an end and not many people playing so it would be like Zombieland, Waterworld, or No Escape movies just fending for yourself in the wilderness. Cant wait to check out how the barter system works, this is one of the only games I've ever played that didn't use coins etc for something.

Thanks for those links :) I guess there are coins in this game. I like the barter system more so I'll most likely end up using that. I found someone else that plays, the only thing is, that his place is literally over an hour "real time" walking distance from my camp. Good thing I like exploring for hours on end lol. another week or so of gathering up supplies then off to find a village.

Gosh it must actually be pretty fun to have the bulk of the world to yourself. Sure, things aren't open and spacious like they would be at the start of a world, but ruins are fun too.

welcome to the game, dont be too put off by the lack of active players, as a new player its probably better, u'll have more space to move around in without the liklihood of being killed or knocked out for giggles.

if you need any help let me know.

I'm actually liking this post apocalyptic version of the game lol. I'm usually more of a solo player on DDO and other games, so this is great. I did find 1 other person that plays, so we've been helping eachother out moving items from camp to camp.

all the lag seems to be caused by the BILLIONS of unfinished projects that people have strewn everywhere "more items in the world = less server power = more lag" just like when they have the damn rain/snow/dropped items everywhere on other games.... so we've been going around taking the 1 piece of wood out of each of the signs to clear up the screen more, it actually seems to help a little when theres less on the screen.

Please recycle your old unused signs when you are done with them lol, I can't count how many trees ive seen with about 25 signs around it. With your help we can bring this game back to life and hopefully lag free :D

I'm really glad you're enjoying the game! Do not neglect to spend time improving your own safety/defenses.

The unholy lag is certainly not caused by unfinished projects.
Borka can probably pull up a link to the dev's statements regarding the source of the lag.

Advice - when you put your trust in someone, that sometimes means giving them the chance to hurt you, so make sure trust is well-placed and/or make sure you have a way to get back at them if they betray ;) but even though there are risks, don't shut yourself off from the rest of the world. You may have hardships and setbacks due to betrayals but that doesn't mean it's not worth getting out there and searching for trustworthy people to team up with. Finding someone to barter with (for example) can be well worth the risks.

vouch - emerald can be trusted more than the majority of players can.

The lag is caused by the current kernel not handling I/O requests properly for some strange reason (not even Loftar nor the bugtracker community he asked for help is sure why). Loftar switched to this kernel so he can set up a RAID array. You can have all of the current world items plus Dis Vclaim X100 (if the world was big enough) and it still theoretically wouldn't affect lag. Likewise, if the world was COMPLETELY EMPTY and just one giant mudflat with nothing on it and one player connected, the lag would be the same.
