I am watching the episodes via Google Videos. They're really good! I just finished watching Episode 6 which introduced the Groke. She's very frightening.

You know what I watched when I was a small child (which, to be perfectly honest, wasn't too long ago)?
The old starship troopers animated series. Apparently we Yankees don't get any of your cool European shows.

The world of Moomin... To me, it was almost always the unknown scariness.
There were tons of episodes that just had summer and running around and collecting flowers, and those were very cute.
But the ones I own on VHS, all have very very creepy elements.
The first appearance of the Groke, for instance. And the above, ghost ship.
