Missed/Casual Connections

There are definitely more friendly/clueless players that I'm seeing out on my travels but I don't usually stop to talk...

And that's why i've meet all kind peoples and no raiders.
Since 2008 i've meet hostiles russians that punch you at first sight only a couple of times. Are so rare to find if you don't yell to them... XD

Ran into some guy in a bear cape and a fishing rod about 3 times in a row within 20 minutes. We had a laugh about the coincidence and I was terrified it was all some plot to keep an eye on my location so you could ensnare me with some friends.

I was the guy that said howdy a lot.

Most people I've met so far either just say 'hi' and boat off or just ignore me totally

Thanks for the free labor. I'll take the inconvenience of having the gate ten tiles north of where we intended it to be for not having to block another three logs, and I think most of the village agrees. You also have the honor of being the first asshole we've come into contact with. It's a shame you weren't very good at it.

It's also worth noting that, excepting one fellow who boated past me when I greeted him, we've not met a single openly hostile or even particularly unfriendly person. We scared a few newbies by trotting around in boar helms, though.

Are you named Dave in game? If so, we had a cocktail while we boated past your hermitage. I like what you've done with those tanning tubs. They really accentuate the rope and leather on your palisade.

How do you find a friendly player?

1. Find a player
2. Make sure you do not appear to
be of any threat, yet they have no
chance of killing you easily
3. Say hello

Met someone who claimed I was stealing his bear when I was pelting rocks at it, we talked it out and eventually killed it together, I would get the hide and some curios he had with him and he would get the food/bones. Nice guy. but the curios were not needed (he offered them because he thought hide for food+bones was unfair)

I spawned next to painhertz, they were friendly the first day. ^_^ Beat me for my sling the next. XD
Then I made a new char and I currently live in an area where I have yet to see any hostile or unfriendly people.
Somehow my hermitage turned into some sort of small village, though I'm not complaining ^_^ hate playing 100% solo.
