You can use linen clothing from starter characters for things like rugs and other things that require cloth. Pretty sure it was fixed for banners now

This is an easter egg? I've been using it for a long time (along with the peaceful slider before digging)
I use it for alts I would kill, too. It's kinda like an addiction.
