Well you could have just a farm vclaim near the river. go there do farming + you get nice access to the water fast.

There's already water underground, but only in caves.

Though there are no shallows in caves, and AFAIK no fish nodes. This also means no clay except for cave clay.

It would take tremendous effort to build an underground city.
It would take even more to maintain it.

However, it sounds too easy to siege. Drop a minehole on top and you completely bypass their walls.
But then there comes the fact that the city is hidden under ground, and layers don't exactly match up in a 1-to-1 ratio with the layer above it, so it would still require some effort on the part of the perpetrator.

I like this idea.
W3 to W6 - Blockland. Special mentions: New Avalon, Tarn of Hotdog, Red October.
W7 - Elvenia, til we all got lazy.
W8 - Cult of R'lyeh, til the deeps called us back.
W9 - Tartarus, til death/wizards came for the land itself.
W10 - ???, ruined and forgotten.

You can't drop a minehole on top of mine tiles on another level

Well you might want water for easy access to boat around.

and on the cave level, stone/ore q is the same node as clay.

I have a 12q ball clay node in my cave...

Wow, that's interesting! IIRC someone made a list of "same" nodes (fish/mussel, etc.) he should add ore/stone to clay.

I wonder if later we can build tree houses on the leaves...then build bridges from tree to tree and make a tree village...Or make on underground city where there are tunnels where they lead to all houses...In minecraft that can happen.

Nope. Underground city though, that can happen if you work hard.
