Goons know what game they're playing. It's kind of ridiculous to imply that they're doing something wrong at this point. They know that they exist in a world where power relations are formed and defined by the players themselves. They factor that concept into the decisions they make as a group. I'm not sure everyone else has realized that to the extent that they have. I think that because, when these things happen, there is always an outcry that it is somehow unfair or should not be permissible, as if exercising power over someone else is a bug. So what if Delamore has benefited from bugs, he's still not the most powerful figure in the game, he merely defines his power differently in its usage. That's what people take offense to. So I suppose that if this kind of behavior is unsettling to any reader, they should reevaluate their motivations for playing.

You can make as many arguments as you like but this:
bajuba wrote:I feel like I have been forced to stop playing by another player. Weeks of work lost.

is a design flaw. When one player can cause another to feel this way, virtually driving them away from the game, and the game was designed to allow it, it's a poorly conceived game. All we can do is hope that it's fixed in the future.

You find it in poor taste to suggest that the developers of a game take disciplinary action against a player who intentionally used exploits in the game and the game's website for the sole purpose of furthering his tyrannical agenda of subjugating or destroying everyone in the game who cannot compete with his ill-gotten strength? I can't even imagine your idea of good taste.

Absolutely.

As to the rhetoric and nonsense of the last post, I'll not even bother quoting. Suffice it to say, you apparently don't know what you're talking about if you think that the the bug to which I'm referring is the fact that Delamore is a jackass, rather than the admittedly numerous exploits he's apparently used.

Well see what is so frustrating is that I love the concept of this game. They purposely do not police this game because that is the type of system they have implemented. I guess I just wish I had a game just like this, only everyone worked together instead of everyone being afraid and wary of everyone else. It's probably never going to change so until it does, I guess this just isn't the game for me at the moment and I should move on.

Isn't that the name of this game? "Haven and Give the Goons Exactly What They Want"? I'm winning now right? I'm finally winning at this game.

So if Blaze or Rift did the same, you would feel different? They have the power to do so. Rift is the only powerful character to kill another powerful character.

Also: The bug your complaining about is literally a personality trait. Del's a jackass. You just argued that feeling butthurt over Del's jackassery is a design flaw. "There must be something wrong with this game, people are feeling stuff, and sometimes they feel things strongly! Quick! Patch it up!"

The problem is that this game has no rules... the problem with THAT is when you have no rules, there is no consequences. People tend to act accordingly to that. Online games are like real life in the aspect that someone... not everyone... is going to do anything they know they can get away with. You can apparently get away with almost anything in this game so that means you have to be a jerk or you bow to the jerks if you want to be able to do anything productive on it. That is just the plain facts.

In all of my time playing H&H (Which is since the last week of the previous map) the Goons have done nothing to cause me harm or grief.

So, IMO, the Goons are legitimate players.

'course, now that I say that, I'm gonna find my character dead in a ditch somewhere three supergrids from where I logged off.

No. combine legit players together to form a guild. It's really the only way to push against the goons. They are well organized, that means we have to be as well. They thrive on anonymity. We take the anonymity from our groups, in this manner, if one person is a goon, just buy a bus ticket and some leather gloves.
