great, now you kinda forced me to write something...

id be really happy if it stayed free, and i dont understand why you, delamore, try to convince them to charge money for it eventually (well it sounds like you tried to convince them... maybe you just stated your honest believe that it could be "worth the money" rather than encouraging them to actually charge for it)
which leads me to the point where i have to say that it already is "worth" money for a lot of people. i understand the community has donated some hundred euros already... this certainly proves that its worth a lot.
i personally prefer the game to be free not only because i wouldnt be forced to pay money in order to play (something i clearly oppose to), but that it would prove that such a fantastic game does not HAVE to bring in money. free stuff for me is the best stuff, because its done out of a passion, rather than the will to get goods out of it. i a fairly sure that money spoils with a lot of dedication and heart put into something.
the first reaction after donation was made possible show that, imho. ppl began to demand special items for donators, or a rank of who paid the most. absolutely something i find disgusting. excuse my harsh words, but thats just the way i feel.

so, i hope HnH will stay free, it would be the best for this already great game!

It was a stupid discussion to start with.

Either it'll remain free or it won't. No words on a forum are going to have much impact on that

why is talking about topics stupid? that statement kinda makes every forum pointless... and communication in general.

i dont intend to convince j&l to behave in a vertain way. just bringing in some thoughts worth considering.

That's not at all what I said or implied.

No... no it really doesn't

I suppose I don't object to a conversation around "how can J&L continue to work on H&H full time forever without us having to pay" so much as I object to a flat out question to the developers to indicate that they will continue to provide us with this service for ever, for gratis.

Mainly because even if they DO say yes to something like that, it's non binding and makes absolutely NO DIFFERENCE for us right now while it is free.

The only possible meaningful out come of such a conversation is that they turn around and say "oh yeah, we're going to start charging in about 6 months" (pigs might also fly) and then more drama ensues.

There are plenty of better things to talk about

this game could easily switch over to charging just like runescape did, but they first would probably have to break like 1k people online at a time and probably do a free & pay model so no one leaves. I was around when runescape had a VERY small server population i think around 200. and it grew and grew and grew. until it was costing them to much to run it from their basement (plus some other problems). anyways now the gowers are millionaires... and runescape racks in a ton of money every year. and it started as a simple java game.... like this one

These guys gotta work on optimization so crappier computers can run this game. runescape got big because people could play it at school in the library or on any computer they wanted. Then you gotta have some sort of end game. runescape for example had pking. This game also has pking however the risk is so great, no one does it on their mains. when you can make it safe for people to play on their mains how they want. you will have more people playing. if you make it so people have to create other throw away characters to play the way they want. they wont stay playing long.

i think this game could make alot of money for them if they did it right, it is a very unique game. They should just copy runescapes model. that game was started by 2 brothers in their basement with no money.

Even considering it feels presumptuous with the game being what it is. I'm glad so many people play and seemingly enjoy the game. Building it has been, and is, one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I love you all for being here.
