I didn't discover GoT until the middle of series three, I was told about it but don't go much on TV, it's mainly just mind numbingly dense - - all police or hospitals or soaps, once you've seen one, they are all the same.

Anyway, finally someone mentioned the magic words - "it has dragons" - and I was on it like a shot, lol, it is just so good though and not just the dragons, the character development is brilliant and the story-lines interesting, I watched series one and two almost back to back and then series three, now I have to wait for weekly episodes and it's like torture!

I'm trying to look as preoccupied as possible during the sex scenes, so, uh.

 - awkward.

I won't mention the "surprise" from the last half of A Storm of Crows... don't want to spoil it for those too lazy to read the books.

My big "I hate this series" moment was when reading book 2. I forget what it was, but I was ready to through the thing out the window, and it was a library copy. Glad I picked it up and finished it. Not even Stephen King, the emperor of "kill everyone off in the book no matter how important they seem" wasn't this diabolic.

Personally that is what I love about the series (Book and Television both). Of course it's a huge bummer when one of your favourite characters all of the sudden gets their head chopped off or something but just as in real life, the good guys do not always win. In fact I'd say rarely do they ever so it makes sense to me that these people would be getting killed off especially during the era it is set in.

Furthermore, it goes to show that there are no winners in war and no side is clearly defined as "good or bad" but rather their actions can be deemed both good and evil depending on the perspective. Regardless of one's intent there is almost always consequences for all involved.

I like the show and it might sound a bit morbid but I like the death too.

Don't speak of torture boy, like you have actually experienced it. I have been waiting since the beginning of season 1. Waited for season 2, and now season 4 episodes. Until you have thought about a series everyday since it's beginning, and waited for 4 seasons episode by episode, that is true torture.

You... were lucky, you only found the series on the third season.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

What's torture is for those of us that have read (and will continue to read) the books... but also watch the series.

The series will conclude before the books will, forcing all of us to watch a poorer, shittier version of the ending before we get the real one.

For some reason I doubt this. Book three is now two seasons long and given what is going on, could be three. Book 4 and 5 will definitely be two seasons each, if not more. Then again, he could blend the books as originally intended because a few seasons of shows is easier to manage than one 2000 page novel.

Spoiler alert:

I'm surprised they just dropped the bomb this early in the season. It's been a while since I read book 3, but I seem to recall the royal wedding being later.

They cut off last season in the middle of a book.

I'm enjoying the series far more than I ever did the books, it may very well be the other way around.

It's strange - this has such a broad audience that it becomes sort of an [older] family show, despite some of the content.

Or maybe its the families that are becoming stranger.

I'm 16 and my parents don't let me watch it lol.
I'm currently reading the books though; I'm halfway through the second one, and it is very exciting.
Also, could you guys maybe warn of spoilers and put them in a spoiler so that unsuspecting nerds like me don't stumble upon them?

Book 4 and 5 are being combined for the series, and the combined product will be covered in 2 seasons time. They have set a maximum duration for the TV series to run at 8 seasons, and no more.

That means principle filming for the eighth and final season will begin 3 and a half years from now. Martin won't release Winds of Winter until 2015 at the earliest. The timeline isn't promising.

I am curious as to why! What do you think is making it more enjoyable?
