Wait a sec, LoW wasn't just senselessly shitposting for the sake of shitposting? That's some big news.

Another post to that sweet history of whining. You're coming back once a year to cry about how awful the game is since what? 2010? I think you already reached the point, when you should stop coming back. If you are so addicted or have some hope for w3 resurection and going to keep coming back, please don't make a post (both "I'm back!" and "I quit!"). But honestly, judging from your old posts, I don't think you will be ever satisfied with any changes.

This reminds me of

"Back in my day we had to put baked potatoes in our socks to walk 7 miles to school and you could get 46 postage stamps for a penny"

People are bored with the game.

Some people bot because they would probably quit otherwise

The item crafting in the game requires so many raw materials and processes and has a solely player-run trading system that requires you to leave the game entirely to get onto either forums or skype.

And you can't even trade until you have advanced a decent amount to get up an idol in the first place.

Plus, as more and more players quit playing the need for botting will rise because you can't trust anybody to move into your operation this late in the game. Your farmer gets bored and quits you either have to invite a new farmer that you don't trust, do it yourself or just not farm altogether. After a while your list of video game obligations becomes so large that you have to drop things you want to be able to do but don't have the time to do.

Don't get me wrong, I HATE that this game is about botting but I chose "can't beat em join em" over "accept that you'll be less developed or quit" because I didn't want to quit. And I wasn't going to keep investing time and work into a game only to see that I'm logged in twice as long and work four times as hard to obtain the same things as a botter, only to have a quarter of their stats. And 10% of the belongings their foragers collected while they slept.

And I STILL only run the farmer, clay digger and wood mover bots... Just cause those tasks suck so bad when you're trying to get other things done

Shout to the non-botters though, I've never ran a forager bot. Or a study filling bot or an eating bot. AND I don't run a trade thread from bot-made items but still have a damn good set of characters. Even though you really can't keep up with quality or anything you can still do damn well without bots and anybody who says that not botting is the reason they are shitty is full of it and scapegoating.

If you don't want to bot... Don't bot. Collect curios, sell them for better stuff.

The game has serious long-term potential, but there are a lot of core concepts that need work to keep people interested long term.

And for the record, LoW/Deus is the absolue LAST person that anybody should listen to about anything in this game.

Comes and joins my village early to help develop the place and ends up only ever working on a mountain foraging bot the entire time that he never even got working. Wanted to bot a "Bank of brodgar", even wanted me to prioritize the security of the imaginary bank over building the city walls that he didn't dig a single piece of clay to help with. Back before I even knew a clay bot existed 3 of us built that place. 2 diggers and myself, no bots. He knows everything wrong with the game though and how to fix it ALL! Too bad he wouldn't even enjoy a fixed game with his village history including 3 kicks in a 2 month period because he doesn't know how to respect others and his pocketbook philosophy sidetracks him from ever getting anything done.

If people spent less time TALKing about who is to blame for them sucking they wouldn't suck so much.

Sad to say, just like my old chief that quit. spent so much time standing within one tile complaining that he "couldn't" leave the walls because his character would surely die if he ran into anybody... Instead of making food and curios to boost his stats and realizing that not leaving the walls was pointless if he was just gonna quit cause he never left the walls...

Survival game = survival in traditional and nontraditional ways. The people who leave fall victim to survival game Darwinism. Get bored, quit. Die, quit. Can't find resources, quit. Sick of the botters, quit. The people who survive the game are the ones who find ways to not be bored, not die or rebuild their characters when necessary, steal resources if you can't find any decent ones... And decide whether or not to bot and live with it. I've never found a game to play that people weren't cheating at in one way or another, and more people are cheating at life than not honestly.

Since nearly every driver in life goes 5mph over the speed limit we should get out of our car and throw ourselves onto the sidewalk, suck our thumb and say "I quit life"

Well, when I'm on the highway solo I do things legit cause it's right, it's societal rules and the law. But when there are 40 cars in view and they're all going over the limit... I'm gonna keep up with the flow of traffic. Same with Haven. At least non-botters don't get honked at until they get out of the way lol

Sorry guys, counter-rant cause I'm super-sick and can't sleep but can't log into any game cause the motions in them make me more sick... Forgive me for this jumbled collection of thoughts but people might as well just quit bitching about the state of the game already. Find a way to enjoy it or just find something else to do. Seriously, if you don't want to play it as it is then just don't play! Go throw a football. Pick up a hooker. Smoke crack. Go bowling with a little person. Hike in the woods. Dig out a nightcrawler and throw it on your sister. Play a game of chess. Snort a breathmint. Convince a schizo homless guy that the department of homeland security in inside of his shoe. Seriously. That list right there would keep me busy for about a week. And I could find the hookers, homeless and crack right outside of my house, so those with limited access might be able to keep busy even longer. Unless you get a homeless hooker who already has crack, but yeah...

I seldom read such long posts, but thisone was decent. Imo, the sentiment of Demo's vs so many 'I can't do dis :'( ' posts (like the guy that posted within the week of how hard this game is when he had not even searched the forum for a help guide or consulted wiki) is the difference between who this game is for and who not.

It is probably (quite) somewhat off topic and this has been said a fuckton times before, but it is so true. This game just isn't for everyone. If you are not prepared to make an effort, or if you don't have the resolve to ante up again and again when getting your teeth kicked in, it was already game over for you when you walked in the door.

I literally forced myself for about 2 hours trying to figure out a way to play the game, finally figuring out it was the default client's fault and resorted to a custom client to play, then couldn't bear how fucking bored I was after trying to worm my way around the map.

What the fuck happened since world 3, guys? It's not even a case of being a nostalgia fag.
I haven't been any more disappointed than I am right now in my entire fucking life.

Bots. Gimmicks. The vanilla client won't even work due to an serverside bug. And curiosities are still a thing? Did I fucking mention BOTS ARE A PUBLICLY ACCEPTED THING?

I remember how fresh this game was, the new and exciting mechanics I worked myself around. You wanted to be a power player, you fucking worked for it. It was absolutely fucking limitless. I dare to go out of my way and say this was my Game of the Year for 2009 and 2010.

Logging on today damn near brought a tear to my eye. No fucking wonder Deus rolled in a shitpocolypse.

But, there isn't a damn thing I can do besides go back to playing a casual game of Team Fortress 2.

I keep in mind this is a project and not made for the player in mind instead, an experience for the developers but, I have no faith for Haven 2 today or survival genre video games after what I just experienced.

What changed was LP for murder. You could literally get all your lp from murdering people, now you get shitty skulls, and next to nothing for murder, and that was what kept the game going imo.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Wow, who gives a shit? It's not like people ignore "gib new world" posts because they're having so much fun with late game, but because they happen too often and a new world isn't going to happen.
If you're bored with worming your way through a map then just play a different game already, or go out and kick a ball around, nothing is forcing you to stay here except yourself.
Bots are a publicly accepted thing because it's publicly accepted that things like filling barrels or farming are the shittiest, most boring mechanics put to any game. To compensate for that people use bots, and those who enjoy doing those things don't use them.
You say you're not a nostalgia fag, yet you mention this was your game of the year in 2009 when everything was so fresh, limitless and you were working your way around the mechanics. That's because you were new. The devs can't help you with being new again. I say you're just a nostalgia fag.

is very weird if i sell something produced for my bots, if i want purlz, i bot purlz, but if i need "fast purlz" for something in particular, i dont have problem to sell just the necessary for get the things, i dont consider that like a shit abuse or power, im not that kind of player... (like other fags who we know who are..)

also , if someday, someone make public a really hardcore bots, with one manual "click-and-play" the value of the things gonna be dissapear.... anyway i am 2much lazy for that.

I've been experimenting over the last couple of wks with playing just one char, it's always interested me and now is as good a time as any - I thought about documenting it in a thread but wasn't sure how interesting it would be, esp since when it comes to figures I'm no Xcom, lol.

Anyway, my reason for bringing it up is that even just playing the one char I've still advanced pretty rapidly with a bit of hard work, I have a steel production set up and have just started on silk, it means a lot of slider manipulation and a lot of stockpiling in each stage that you are in, but, the point is, it is possible, it is fun and I am advancing.

And - I'm not botting and I haven't died. :)

(haven't died yet, lol)

I must say I disagree with shying away from telling a story. Thats all we are at the end of it. We only remember the good stories, small or big. Great examples like the carpenter guy just are gold. Sadly people focus on the wrong things like bots instead of listening to the story's told. When someone comes to the forums they often do it to enjoy reading or telling a story. Sad how so many people end up complaining about the exploits and bugs instead of enjoying the game.
