That's not to say Dataslycer's guide is useless though, as his delves deeper in to all of the combat skills/moves/maneuvers/whatever. They are both important guides to be made aware of, imo.

Trespassing - 20,000 LP
I wouldn't recommend this skill, since this is how I earned my most recent death. Why go through the risk of stealing when anyone with the ranging skill (again, more on that later) could find and kill you at any given time?

ok since you meant this to be some type of guide to newbies, i would like to point out, that trespassing indeed does not leave "summonable" scents. Wich means no one can summon you when you are offline with this scent. However, it still leaves a trespassing scent! wich can be used by any ranger to find you if you are still online, or they can use it to find your home by leading them to your heartfire, so it can still get you killed in a world full of stronger players that are just waiting for something to keep them from booredom. good news is that trespassing scents will dissapear a lot faster then most of the other scents.
i would advice any new players to always be carful when you use any black skill with your criminal acts on, since it always leaves scents that can be used in one way or another by rangers. Make sure your heartfire is placed inside a house inside a safe brickwall before you even start attemting to use such skills. Always assume someone will pic scents up and check wich direktion it leads them.

Edit: by the way, just beacuse you have the black skills available does not mean you have to actually use them, if you keep Criminal acts turned off at all times it will kinda hinder you from committing any crimes that would leave a scent. In the end you are gonna want to have all skills even if you intend to live as a peaceful hermit, it is good to have the ability to defend yourself.

Glass Making and Stone Working - 750 LP and 200 LP
These are some skills that aren't very important during the start of the game, but Stone Working is more preferable because it leads to better skills that are more necessary later in-game.

wut... ? stone working = paving. Everything degrades fast as fuck if not on paved ground. This should be in the top 10 first skills.

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

After you get all the starting skills You'll probably find a greater portion of Daily LP going into upgrading your stats rather than buying lots of new skills at a time...

I mean right from the get go you want as much exploration and survival as possible, and if you're a solo player MM will not be far behind on the skills you need to grind pretty early on. A more helpful guide for new players would be suggestions on how to balance your stats, which ones you should spend more LP on.

You do not leave a tresspassing scent by foraging on claimed land, only by first walking onto the land if you are on foot. Most usefully it allows you to forage (without leaving any scents at all), grey clay (which might be on a claimed clay node), mussels and flotsams from a boat. A lot of people think that you leave scents doing this because you need to have criminal acts turned on but actually you don't. What does leave scents is chopping down trees (vandalism) digging (vandalism) looking in containers (tresspassing) entering buildings (tresspssing) destroying items (vandalism) taking items from containers (theft) and obviously any kind of assault on another character.

Murder can also be very useful early on for the additional intelligence provided by a necro robe.

Also in general I would like to point out that it is not a good idea in this game to put all your eggs in one basket. You are bound to get killed once or twice and you can significantly limit the risk by using different alts for different jobs. The most dangerous task for a new player is probably foraging/hunting, so you shouldn't have an expensive character with all the skills listed doing that, he only needs at max 80 per, 80 exp and a bit of marksmanship (40 would do for killing animals relatively easily), a bit of survival is required as of this world and foraging although as discussed tresspassing is rather useful for him too.

As for taming animals, signposts only work for cows and sheep - boars will eat them and then you. If I am taming boars before armour then generally I find a good way to do it is stand in shallow water and then only run up to them to sidestep/consume the flames.

You're probably better offkeeping your tradition/change slider at neutral for numen points to pray for nuggets and a steady income of LP unless you have found a good mine or cave.

... What?
I mean, does someone REALLY play like this? Earning nuggets by staying at 100% LP and getting numen points instead of mining?

Is this thread really necessary? i'm sure it's absolutely useless. everybody knows how much is rage and other skills, anyway there is WIKI which contains practically all the information about this game, which was written by ppl playing h&h (surprise for you, you aren't first)
btw rage costs 30k la, nab

I want to believe that literally no one does this
