Please reassure me that this game isn't being overrun by a bunch of immature 13-year-olds or older players who insist on behaving as such. Maybe it's wiser to know for sure, before I do any time commitment to this game.

Depends on where you go. I have an inkling that the power players are all 13, but at least most of them behave in tolerable manner.
Then there are some isolated cases, who tend to not last very long.

There's a LOT of immature people in this game, and in any online community.
