Oh yeah I've also saved what has to be 50 newbies joining through SA too.
Oh wait I'm the devil and can do no good.

You aren't the devil, you are just a random and unpredictable person who takes pleasure at the expense of others on a whim.

Yeah I want to say that, knowing a bunch of n00bs who have joined the game, seeing that river and going "I'M GONNA GET SWIMMING" is like the first thought in the head of every second or third nub (and that's despite a big warning thread, despire being told on join and despite warnings when they try).

... but if you attack a level X Bear? You get knocked unconscious. BUT SWIMMING? OH GOD NO.

Were jorb or loftar in some horrible swimming accident as a child and so they've decided to inflict their pain upon everyone else? Is it really so hard to have a red error "Your constitution is not high enough to swim out that deep" and actually prevent people from INSTA-DEATH drowning? It just struck me as kinda funny that in a game where everything else is virtually harmless, swimming is the terror of all terrors and likely responsible for more n00bie deaths than everything else combined. Is it really so bad they can't just float unconscious back to the nearest shore?

You're right. The only reason i dont get killed by swimming, is my lucky to find another person to tell me "NEVER, EVER LEARN SWIMMING".

Yeah, several people told me that as well. I eventually did buy swimming when I was running from some boars, but I asked on IRC how far I could get with my constitution. The first thing they said is DON'T GO SWIMMING, then they said I would go about 2 tiles then die. So basically, I just wasted 600 LP until they fix the swimming system.
