Someone also needs to calculate whether that bit of grass in the middle really expands that quickly in a week or if it's just airbrushed in ms paint.

Before the brazil were even discovered, there were a Japan and his culture of Respect.
Is due to the fact that they have keept strong theyr traditions, that japan is what it is today.
Otherwise it whould be like any other globalizated country, without the sense of collective organization.

Uh...do you know anything about Japanese history at all? Japan changed radically after World War II, far more than any other country. Culturally it became like an entirely different country. Even before that, the end of the Sakoku policy in the second half of the 19th century caused a complete cultural revolution, in large part due to Western influences.

So yeah, 'keeping their traditions strong' doesn't exactly apply to Japan.

You can make a quick comparation between countryes and look at the traditions that have been keeps.

Japan is a rare case where old and modern lives at the same time without problem.
Is not the same for other asian country that are evolving into a more occidental style of life, trashing theyr traditions and theyr language too. (indonesia, thai)

They have a Strong Identity and every occidental influence is toke and reworked to fix the Japan identity.
Most of japanise things are "unique" because are a rare mix of both culture, fixing perfectly with they'r identity and not simply "imported".
They had they'r "blow of culture" where they were asked to trash everything and adopt the occidental style of live and cultural ideas, but this haven't overwrited theyr culture as it have done in other countries. They have keept a large part of they'r identity.
Samurai are gone and the politic system have changed in a more modern system. Many thing have evolved to step to the modern age, but the way they have done this is much more "traditional" than the way WE have done it.

We can't deny that theyr tradition are deeply inside theyr identity. Usually this happens only on "non modern" country. They are surely Modern, thou.
Compared to other countries, like the Europe or America, is quite hard to find a traditional identity that is above the simple food recipes and a couple of traditional events. We are pretty all the same.

I'm not saying that is good or bad. Is just a visibile fact.

Edit:
eheh, keyword is Fixed.
lol. I should find a synonimus

Hey there Venator!
I just stumbled upon a (new) village called ONIGIRI, and it has runestones in what seems to be japanese.
Maybe it's the same guys?
