If you're just looking for a great crafting game, try A Tale in the Desert. http://www.atitd.com/ Under new management since 4/2014. No idea if this will help revitalize the player base or not, but last time I was playing it, the game was slowly dying off. There's a complete lack of combat, but lots of competition.

Funny game , game is telling bout Finland around 12th century or so

I do get that there aren't many games like haven and hearth that are free, but what about those games that I could buy on steam. The most similar thing I found was latern forge. The interface was similar, but the game was way too limited. So does anyone know a game that is either free or bought on steam that has quite similar interface to haven and hearth, because simply putting in 18bit pixel retro doesn't cut it. Since I am not even sure what graphic genre it even falls in and those three combined seems the closest thing.

Minimalist? Retro 16-bit (even though it's in 32-bit). I'm not an art critic or student of styles, but I'd stab at more of a "folk" style, I think. Maybe jorb can tell us what he was aiming for.
