Again running windows 8.1 on a 64 bit system, Cant run any .jnlp files so I used javas internet tool to see if i had the up to date one and they told me that the one i have is good, so i dont know what to do there. Please help.

Check whether you have browsers enabled in Java Control Panel (Security Tab)

did you made exeptions for both http:// and https:// ? <----YEs

Set Default JNLP Program in Windows 8 / 8.1 <-----Set to javaws.exe

Windows has a way that you can choose what program opens a file by default. To make Java Web Start Launcher the default program to open JNLP files, open the Charms bar, click the magnifying glass, and then type "Default Programs" (without quotes) into the text field. Click "Apps | Default Programs | Associate a File Type or Protocol With a Program | .JNLP | Change Program | Java Web Start Launcher." If you don't see Java Web Start Launcher, click "More Options" and then click "Look For Another App on This PC." Locate the JRE folder and then open the "BIN" folder. Click "Javaws.exe" and then click "Open." <--Did this

To install client you need to download updater. Download it and put into some folder. Then run this file - it will download client and all require files to that folder.
source code could be found at git://github.com/EnderWiggin/Haven-and- ... -Ender.git

I clicked the download updater, and i installed the .jar and i clicked on it and it ran in java fine, did its update thing but dissapeared and nothing else happened after that.

Still no luck

Address family not supported by protocol family-- Network adapter

Try this, type this on CMD (command line) + enter ; -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

OP - Did you run an anti virus check?

yep Sarah is right with IP4 <-> IP6 ( Java 7 and 8 are trying with IP6 by default on windows)

create a bat (with Notepad - save as updater.bat - file type: all types !not .txt) in your Ender folder
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre8\bin\java.exe" -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Djava.net.preferIPv6Addresses=false -jar updater.jar"

The requirements for which version you have installed is dependent on which processor and architecture you use. 64 bit processing is pretty much standard now, and 32 bit installations of Windows 8 (does it exist? haven't looked) are supported for legacy systems that can run it. Why you'd want to put 8 on a PC that already has 7 installed, I don't know, but some do.

Conclusion: yeah, it matters. With a 64 bit OS, you should stick to 64 bit programs for best performance. There may still be issues with some older programs in properly recognizing it as a 32 or 64 bit installation, so you should make sure you're getting the right thing. (You should do this always, anyway, just to make sure something isn't being screwy.)
