Painfully well aware, indeed. I'd really like it if someone who is more familiar with OpenGL than I am could tell me whatever I'm doing wrong. I just cannot imagine that it's supposed to be as slow as it is. The graphics aren't exactly that advanced, I would think...

I'm no OpenGL expert, but I'm sure it has to do with the amount of data sent back and forth. The whole landscape is being constantly streamed on a connection that can't be any faster than your standard cable connection (unless jorb has a T1 and I'm just full of myself).

Also: You are sending graphical assets in real time, yes? If that is a right assumption, I think a downloaded client (as opposed to one that streams) with all assets in place would be more efficient then one that loads on the fly. Just have them load from the harddrive when needed.

Also the fact you're using java doesn't help. It's stupid hard to optimize to any computer, especially the hardware your common userbase probably has.

Of course if any of this is poor assumption (I've looked at your work on your website, I know you're good), then just ignore me.

Now I truly feel like I'm back.

Will my "hunter's pouch" suggestion ever be implemented? :<

You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Doesnt this get boring, grinding bears day after day? Whats your motivation, hitting 100mio(or even a billion) first?
