Sure, the new Haven will be a continuation of the game mechanics of the old one and they're now working on it actively but I don't see how this relates to what I have said (which was largely just expressing nostalgia). They left for Salem at some point and the currently playable version of Haven has ever since pretty much been abandoned, except for a few necessary bug fixes, world resets and the skull throne & jug update. I do not consider the old Haven the same as the new one (just similar).

But the, ya know, developers of the game SAY it's the same game so really? You want to argue with the people who's creation it is? Are you daft?

I'm not really keen on derailing this further but if you insist on nitpicking...

a)
But the, ya know, developers of the game SAY it's the same game so really?

If the new Haven is the old Haven, why do we constantly use different names for the two? There should be no reason to do so. Apparently the changes and historical perspective warrant the making of a difference for most people. Even Loftar gave suggestions on how to call it.

Furthermore I understand that the gameplay will mostly be the same and that a good deal of code will be recycled (establishing some sort of heritage) but right now only the devs can judge that. I can not. It doesn't automatically make sense for me to assume that my experience in the old Haven will be the same as in the new Haven. And even if the gameplay turns out to be identical there is no way to tell whether it will 'feel' the same.

If you want to establish why they are one and the same feel free to do so. Currently your argument was just "because the devs said so".

You want to argue with the people who's creation it is?

I'm not argueing with them, right now you're argueing with me.

Are you daft?

I can't tell. You be the judge.

I'm one of the people who would like to see this version kept around for the following reason. I mainly do crafting and play for the companionship found in working together in villages etc. The new version is from what I have read going to not being able to start with your friends etc which is fine as that is how it start out but this one started this way. The people who have given up playing this game have obviously had different values of playing which they have obviously gotten what they wanted from it and have now moved on. I like this game because it doesnt really have an end and provides continuing projects. There is no quests to be forfilled so there for it just goes on. There are still battles for those inclined to fight etc and people are still trying to defend their based for those not wanting to fight. But there as I was saying earlier people who try to better their crops, animals and enjoy the day to day things in this game who love the game for the way this world was meant to be. We are the ones who do not complain that we need upgrades, the ones when if it is suggested that the community can fix a problem we try to work out how to get it fixed, we simply have not given up playing this version because we still get so much out of it. As a social experiment or so I have been told many times that this game is, it is about the little people not giving up and instead we try to forge ahead and make life nicer for ourselves once the bigger more powerful people move out of this and onto something else. Anyway these are my thought on it, I would like to see this world kept alive if possible and as long as it doesn't annoy the developer in doing so as it is their game they created for what ever reasons were behind it originally.

Not sure what the big deal is. The new version is virtually the same game. Just in 3D. Same survive or die concept, same crafting system, and same overall playability. It's just going to be overhauled, and with some new features that jorb and loftar have been wanting to fix or add since the day they came up with the idea for the game. H&H is a idea for them that will alway grow and change. That is the best part about H&H. There will never be a finished product.

Yeah seriously it truly did and it confuses me to see players holding on for dear life. There was a time when there were 1000-1200 people playing this game on a daily basis and while I am not 100% certain I believe it is the most the game had ever seen.

The player count has been no where near that much since that time and the developers have explicitly stated time and time again that they intend to retire this version of Haven & Hearth so everyone knew or ought to have known that this was coming. I also hate saying "this version" because that implies if they had kept working on the game rather than turning their attention to Salem that this would not have been the natural course of progression in any case which I highly doubt.

There is no doubt in my mind however that what we did get to experience so far was nothing short of an awesome rollercoaster ride. I feel lucky to have had the chance to experience this game in its many states from World 3 to the present world and I met many excellent people (and some not so excellent) along the way. I can only hope those people and many others choose to move forward with the rest of us that aren't obsessing over the loss of what is simply an older version of the game.

Also, if your main gripe is with the graphics then you are no better than those who will only play something 3D because "ew anything worse is gross."

I don't care about the original game, but I just wanted to say

SOMEBODY MADE KAIOS A MODERATOR?!?!???!?!?!

I leave these forums for a year and anarchy breaks out.

Thanks, Obama.
