For 10 gold coins, would anyone like to guess on what grid gets nuked on this crash?
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

I think I finally found it. It seems to have been a refcounting bug related to force-summoning character from their charter stone. I am dubious, however, since it hasn't happened once since I added the functionality and then all of a sudden has happened like 10 times in the last day. I guess it might be someone who has been commonly summoned the last day, though. I'll fix the bug in question, so time will tell if it's the correct one.

They should just do a world reset instead :) maybe it will get rid of whatever bug is causing the crashes.

Uhm, i just summoned one at the novigrad charter stone, but the crash appeared 5minutes after the summon.

Yeah, refcounting bugs can have that effect. The effect of your summon was to release the data structure prematurely, but the crash won't happen until it's actually used the next time. In this case, it was used by someone opening their kin list.

I had the summoned dude memorized. I deleted him from my kinlist, then used his scents to point at his corpse (I'm easily amused). They all pointed fine, but then the last one said "The perpetrator is dead". Then I went sightseeing, and two minutes later the server crashed.

I hope some of this is useful.
