Indeed; one of the reasons that I haven't even attempted to post any statistics is because it is so very hard to compile anything which would be meaningful.

you could look at characters fep and lp

not indicative of active players, but number of developed characters could be interesting

There are TONS of neat stats you could generate out of H&H data if you were collecting them.

FE/LP earned total, FE/LP per day, sign ups per day, median account use per month, major time zones people play in, median hearth fire distance from RoB, number of mine locations generated / built, item decay levels, animals spanwed/killed per month

You might not want to show us forumers these stats (although personally I'd LOVE to see them) but you should at least look at them for your own benefit.
