It's more like Novigrad settled south of us, because there was no Novigrad when we settled there; we beat it by a full week, and it was at least level-8 when we chose the location.

A village could really only defend itself against vastly superiour military power by either paying the levy to the "feudal lord(s)", or simply escaping by being obscure and hard to find. The third option, really, is to become stop being a sheep and become a wolf too.

If it were straightforward RvR, I'd gladly take it, and adjust accordingly. But it's not even RvR, it's griefing -- the difference being that RvR respects the game, while griefing seeks to kill it.

I think a few people in this thread think that losing a winepress affected me, while in fact it did not. What it did illustrate, however, was to which lengths some people would go for their griefing, taking so much trouble to steal/destroy an utterly meaningless object that could so easily be replaced, just for the sake of demonstrating that they keep tabs on us. What makes it so annoying is that it's utterly pointless; like cutting down the trees in our common area, no crippling blow to our collective effort was delivered, it was just done to piss us off. Well, if they get their jollies doing that, I guess I just have to move on to something a little more constructive. I certainly see nothing good that could possibly come out of a game that tolerates this.

If I remember correctly, you're a Goon, right? I've seen Goons in action before; but for those who might not know them, Goons have this unfortunate tendency of showing up in games and telling other people how it should be played, looking for every loophole to make damn sure they do. Because "The Internet Makes You Stupid", right?

Don't underestimate the vending stands next to brodgar... you can start from 0 by selling linen, chantrelles, baked stuff, inkweed, rustroot, gauzes (once also cheeses... now it's almost impossible). Then with the money it is easy to buy good axes, bonesaws, fishing poles. Then you could make something more valuable, and get more money to buy metal, and also pickaxes, scythes etc.

It is quite easy to get some metal, or at least coins if you follow the market carefully. Of course, owning a mine makes thinkgs infinitely easier...

I didn't even bother to read most of that, I skimmed over it to get the gist of it but I have to ask.. Is your community, by some wild chance, the one JUST *JUST* north of novigrad? Right over that river that doesn't have an idol..?

I gotta say if it's yours nice place.

Dunno. I can understand his main point. At the moment the population of players is too small to keep the jackasses with no RL in check. If there are enough players to have guards at key points, chances are stuff will get more lawful. Keep in mind that they aren't that decidated too, if something's too tedious for them or even remotely dangerous chances are they won't do it. Temporary fix: Don't settle on the main grid, or keep all your stuff on a gargantuan claim. Surrounded by a fence or a palisade or something. Nobody wants to leave stenches that could cause you to get summoned.

I can detect a lot of rage in the OP, but ignoring raegquits also isn't the real solution. But - you aren't trying, Vet. Not even trying. You should have tried harder to get metal - not impossible at all - and simply have ignored the griefers. As you wrote they are petty, so if all they do is a little sting every so often you can safely ignore them. Because you shouldn't waste your time with these low-life shits. OR you could try to ambush them. Fun for the whole family!

*Sigh* How many times will I have to go through this? The charter stone wasn't there when we settled, and we'd already moved once before, so we didn't want to leave. And now you're saying that that being "next to a newbie charter stone" exponentially increases chances of being griefed? What does this say about the welcome that newbies are facing in this game if this is true? And then you wonder why so many people flee the game just minutes after logging in.

Enjoy your dead game, sir.
