I'm 32/40/20, tempted to tackle a level 4 or 5 bear once the servers are up. Not feeling quite... bold enough to take on a mordor bear yet. Hoping the foxes are a good judge, I butcher them without any armor on at all.

Meh
Foxes are NOT a good yardstick for bear. I kill mordor foxes with less than 10 arrows, but level seven bear take me just about a full quiver.
And I can kill the foxes even when they are hitting me. If pathfinding is fixed, I will definately have to take a brief retirement from bear hunting.

I don't really think it's going to surpass archery for hunting any time soon though, even when they implement pathing, there is still the option of constructing little basket/ fire place forts to run and hide in and shoot out of.

Maybe when they implement both pathing AND bears being able to knock over weak constructables...

I am pretty sure pathfinder stops the bear hunting for the most part. two hit's and most people are gone.

I agree. I saved up almost 100k lp for melee skill for when pathfinding makes it's way into the game. stopped at 30 archery.

I think I'll go down the archery path anyway. I don't do much hunting and when I do, it's with a melee friend. Besides they'll have their uses again at some point!
