Brodgar was never a power type village.
At least not since I started playing.
It was a place for newbs to get their bearings for the game from what I understood it as.

Actually, it had reasonable power at one point. In the first month or so of this map, Brodgar was pretty much the only way for farmers (or anyone without a mine really) to easily get their hands on metal. IIRC, they bought 25 linen for 100 coins/1 bar of copper in order to make all the banners they needed. That might not sound like a huge deal to you, but back then farmers didn't have alternatives to some of the metal equipment, mainly cauldrons. This was also before metal nuggets were implemented, so the cost of some metal products were also higher.

I think that's it. A lot has happened in this map, so I can't remember exactly where in the timeline you would have fit in.
