Found my old village, it was a grid [-2,-1], being able to see this gives me a much better idea of the sizes involved on the new world. I also compared the size of the Prospecting scan which is said to be 1000 tiles in radius, it looks like 9 well positioned scans would cover the whole supergrid and we had been overlapping our scans badly. Any idea how many mines on average occur in each supergrid?

Indeed. They are backwards and reversed. :) The three "mudflat" supergrids that you've placed to the far north are supposed to be to the far east.
