You cannot produce food "en masse" any longer, not with branches being so limited. There are many thing more "difficult" in the world than the last. But the point/post wasn't about a "lack of food" it was about the rate of comsumption and how unfun that can be. I have no probem with food now either, nor did I have on last map. It is the constant interuption of playing to continue to eat and eat and eat due to the rediculous consumption rate that many have complained about AND that the devs have admitted is way off balance. It is boring and tedious to have to do it so often. So my point wasn't about the lack of food, it was regarding the tedious food consumption.

Eating dozens of bunnies in a row doesn't bother me because it's unrealistic, it just makes me feel guilty...

earlier, you just needed one, ONE, apple tree nearby to feed a whole village

Going out, finding and catching 20 chickens isn't hard either¹. It's just damned annoying and stupid. Eating through half a cupboard of food only necessitates someone farm half a cupboard of food. That's 32 loaves of bread or 8 oven loads being eaten in a day and the clincher: by one person. It would be nice, for example, to go out hunting, slaughter some of the never-ending, limitless re-spawning animals and bring back enough food that your small village could have a feast. Not for the hunter to eat all of it himself by the time he gets back to camp.

... or one starving person to scoff the lot and still be hungry and then get hungrier half an hour later.

Loftar was against doing anything about it prior to the reset as he feared it would result in massive stocks of food. I'd argue the only reason we create such massive amounts of food is purely because we need to eat so much in the first place. Even now, people will kill and won't even bother to butcher animals because they have plenty of food. Farmers don't even bother farming their crops every day now as it is because they have enough resources. Reducing the hunger won't change that.

¹Though with rabbits I'd perhaps argue that if you do it wrong (IE: Properly and chase after them, not just stand next to them) then you burn more hunger through Stamina re-gain from drinking water than you do from eating the rabbit.
